Gas Instantaneous Hot Water Systems / Continuous Flow

On demand hot water at your fingertips!

The Early Years

Gas water heaters have been available in Australia since the roll out of reticulated gas to the residential sector some 30yrs ago. Traditionally these were storage systems (typically 90 to 150L) which used a pilot light to provide ignition for the gas burner.

Gas instantaneous water heaters have also been available for the same period but only held a relatively small share of the market. Up until the 1990’s these were mostly manual ignition or used a pilot light to provide ignition for the main gas burner.

Gas instantaneous hot water systems also known as continuous flow systems differ from the traditional storage systems in that they do not store any pre heated hot water.
They heat water on demand as required by the user, so you will never run out of hot water. That means that the entire household can shower consecutively without anybody enduring a cold shower!

Whether you’re renovating, building a new home, or replacing your existing hot water system, continuous flow hot water systems offer an efficient alternative to traditional gas and electric storage units. Continuous flow hot water systems are more compact in size than traditional hot water storage units. This allows them to be easily mounted on an outside wall and ensures your pathways are not blocked with cumbersome storage tanks.

More Recently

More recently we were introduced to a Hydro ignition in which as soon as you open your hot taps, the water flowing through the tank drives a turbine in the hydrodynamic generator, which creates the electrical energy required to ignite the pilot. The system only ignites when a hot water tap is opened. Once the hot water tap is closed, the system turns itself off. The principle for this revolutionary ignition system is to create a supremely efficient appliance that is simple and easy to install.

Today...21st Century Technology

Now days a new generation of Gas instantaneous water heaters has emerged. These are high efficiency models with electronic ignition, solar compatible, full flame protection, user adjustable temperature electronic control pads with a wide range of capacities… With energy efficiency ratings in excess of five stars, which only use purchased energy when required, as it heats the water when you demand it, you too can now enjoy considerable savings on your household bills.
