Need help? Have you spotted a ‘Ref 2.5V’ fault in your Solar King SLK Inverter?
What is a Ref 2.5V fault?
A Ref 2.5V fault appears when moisture affects the main board in your SLK inverter. It can be an intermittent issue that occurs as the moisture comes and then dries out again. Ultimately, if the fault remains, it cannot be repaired and you will need to replace your inverter.
Is a Ref 2.5V fault covered under warranty or by my insurance?
The first thing to do is check if your SLK inverter is still under warranty. This brand originally came with a five-year warranty; however, most systems in Australia are now reaching the end of their warranty period as most of them were installed prior to 2012.
If your inverter is still under warranty, you can either remove the system yourself (as it is basically a ‘plug-and-play’ style of inverter) and bring it into Solargain to swap it over for a warranty unit. If your system wasn’t originally purchased through Solargain, this will incur a fee to cover international freight for the repair. Alternatively, you can call upon us to remove and replace it for you by booking an inverter health check.
It is unlikely that your home insurance policy will cover this kind of fault.
What’s the best way to resolve a Ref 2.5V fault?
If this fault occurs persistently, you will need to replace your inverter, as it cannot be repaired. Solargain offers a handy inverter health check which will help get your system back up and running as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
We’ll send an experienced solar technician to your home to conduct a full inspection of your solar power system. Once they’ve confirmed the nature of the fault, they can replace your existing inverter with a suitably compatible replacement.
