Has your Solar King SLK inverter stopped working and developed a ‘No Utility’ fault?

What is a No Utility fault?

In SLK inverters, a No Utility fault indicates that your system has lost its AC power connection. It might be worth checking that the main ‘solar supply’ switch in your meter box is on.

Is a No Utility fault covered under warranty or by my insurance?

SLK inverters were installed in Australia up until 2012. They came with a 5-year warranty. Being a ‘plug-and-play’ inverter, if yours is still within the warranty period, you can potentially remove the inverter and bring it into your nearest Solargain office, where we will replace it free of charge. (Or, if that sounds a big daunting, you can book a ‘health check’ through Solargain, and we’ll come and replace it for you.)

If your inverter is out of warranty, some household insurance policies may cover this type of fault; however, you will need to check directly with your insurer.

What’s the best way to resolve a No Utility fault?

Regardless of whether your inverter is still under warranty or not, the easiest way of resolving your SLK inverter’s No Utility fault is to arrange a system ‘health check’ with Solargain. One of our qualified technicians will inspect and service your entire solar power system (something we recommend you have done annually) and will:

  • Check that there is power to all three phases of our house;
  • Check the working condition of all isolators installed;
  • Check if the AC fuse has blown and replace it if necessary (this incurs a fee of $20 in addition to the price of the health check).

In the event your inverter is deemed irreparable, our Solargain technician can replace your faulty SLK inverter on the spot. Depending on the size of your system, whether you are on a particular tariff or whether any rewiring is required, our technician will recommend the most suitable replacement for your circumstances.

To resolve your SLK inverter No Utility fault, contact Solargain today to arrange a solar health check or give us a call on 1300 73 93 55.
