SunPower Battery Storage Set To Rock Australian Market in 2015

SunPower Battery Storage will soon be taken to the next level as the company announced that its commercial energy storage systems could hit Australian shores as soon as next year.

SunPower is one of the world’s leading solar power companies, developing and innovating in solar power products since the 1970s. Today, the US based company offers ‘solar solutions’ for residential, business, government and large-scale utilities across the globe.

Already invested in developing a residential battery storage solution in Australia, the company has indicted that their work here could become a template for their energy service models around the world.

SunPower battery storage for commercial clients looks set to feed off the momentum being created by the SunPower battery storage work that’s being done for residential homes

According to Tom Werner, SunPower President and CEO ‘In Australia, our residential storage pilot is going well, and we expect to expand storage to the commercial channel in this market next year.’

SunPower battery storage technology is moving at a healthy pace in the company’s home country. In fact, in a deal with KB Homes, SunPower has suggested that it will consider not only installing modules on all new homes, but SunPower battery storage solutions as well.

In other news, the company has confirmed that it will design and build the 3.1MW expansion of Epuron’s Uterne solar power station in Alice Springs. Once complete, the solar power station will grow substantially from 1MW to 4.1MW and will power approximately 1000 Alice Springs homes, reducing the need for gas and diesel-fired generation.
