
Power Your Home with Battery Rebates in WA: A July 2025 Guide
With rising energy costs and a growing push toward sustainability, now is the perfect time for WA households to invest in battery storage systems. Thanks to the WA Residential Battery Scheme and the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, residents can access generous rebates and interest-free loans to make the switch more affordable.
What Rebates Are Available?
From 1 July 2025, eligible WA households can access:
• State rebate:
• Up to $1,300 for Synergy customers ($130 per kWh)
• Up to $3,800 for Horizon Power customers ($380 per kWh)
• Federal rebate:
• Around 30% off the upfront cost of eligible battery systems
Combined, this can total up to:
• $5,000 for Synergy customers
• $7,500 for Horizon Power customers
How to Access the Rebate
To qualify for the Federal rebate, follow these steps:
The Federal battery STC rebate is vendor-lead and works in a similar way to the solar panel STC rebates. The discount will be automatically applied by your chosen vendor at the time of quotation/ installation. All Australians are entitled to this rebate assuming certain system parameters are satisfied.
To qualify for the WA State rebate, follow these steps:
1. Check your eligibility:
• You must be a Synergy or Horizon Power customer.
• Your battery system must be VPP-capable (Virtual Power Plant)
2. Choose an approved vendor:
You must purchase and install your battery system through an accredited vendor listed in the Plenti Vendor Directory
3. Select approved equipment:
Your battery must be listed on the Clean Energy Council’s Approved Battery List and Synergy's Supported Systems List when available.
4. Get a quote and apply:
Your chosen vendor will submit the rebate application on your behalf.
5. Sign up to Synergy's "Synergy Battery Rewards" program
If you are choosing to apply for the WA State Rebate sign up to the Synergy Battery Rewards programme (you can chose not to opt-in to the Synergy program and still be eligible for the Federal Battery STC rebate).

How to Access the Interest-Free Loan
Eligible households can also apply for a no-interest loan of up to $10,000, repayable over up to 10 years.
Steps to apply:
1. Income check:
• Your household income must be below $210,000 per year
2. Vendor submission:
• Your accredited vendor will submit the loan application for you
3. Loan processing:
• The loan is administered by Plenti, who will contact you to finalise the details.

Approved Equipment
To be eligible for rebates and loans, your battery system must be:
