Brisbane solar battery specialists
Keep the energy your roof is already producing
Brisbane households with solar panels often generate more energy than they use during the day—then send much of it back to the grid for a modest return.
A solar battery stores that excess generation and puts it to work when you actually need it: after dark, during expensive peak periods or through a storm when a compatible backup system has been installed.
Solargain has designed and installed solar and battery systems across Brisbane and South East Queensland since 2005. Whether you are adding storage to an existing system or starting fresh, our local team assesses your roof, usage patterns, existing equipment and budget before recommending a solution for your home.

Why Brisbane homes are adding storage
More value from solar, day and night
Falling feed-in tariffs, storm-season resilience and the federal battery discount have changed the case for home energy storage.
01
Use more of your own solar
Instead of exporting excess daytime generation at a low feed-in tariff, store it and use it when grid electricity costs more.
02
Prepare for storm outages
A correctly configured backup system can keep nominated circuits running when severe Brisbane weather interrupts grid supply.
03
Access an upfront discount
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides an upfront discount on eligible systems, generally handled by the installer.

Already have solar?
In most cases, you can add a battery
Our Brisbane team reviews inverter compatibility, switchboard condition and evening energy use before recommending the most practical connection method.
Option A
DC-coupled battery
Often the simplest path when the home already has a compatible hybrid inverter.
Option B
AC-coupled battery
Adds a battery inverter alongside an existing standard solar inverter.
If an older inverter is not battery-compatible, we will explain whether replacement or retrofit offers better long-term value.

Before you choose a battery
Six details that shape the right system
A useful quote should answer more than brand and price. These are the practical questions our team works through with you.
01
Battery chemistry
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is widely used for its thermal stability, safety characteristics and long cycle life.
02
Usable capacity
Compare usable—not only nominal—capacity, then size storage around your evening load and future electrification plans.
03
a
Backup design
Outage protection is not automatic. Confirm which circuits will be backed up and whether transfer equipment is included.
04
Single or three phase
Your switchboard configuration affects compatible equipment, output across phases and whole-home backup options.
05
Rebate eligibility
The system and installation must meet current program requirements, including approved equipment and installer accreditation.
06
Installation timing
The STC factor is based on installation date and steps down over time, so future discounts will differ from today’s.

Solar battery FAQs
Brisbane battery questions, answered
Clear answers to the questions homeowners ask before requesting a system design.
How much does a solar battery cost in Brisbane?
After the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount, a quality 10kWh battery installed in Brisbane in 2026 typically costs around $7,000–$11,000, depending on brand, inverter requirements and whether backup protection is included. Switchboard upgrades and three-phase configurations can add to the cost. Solargain provides a fixed-price quote after assessing your home.
How much is the federal battery discount?
For installations from May to December 2026, the STC factor is 6.8 for the first 14kWh of eligible usable capacity. The dollar value also depends on the STC market price and installer administration. For a 10kWh battery, the draft estimate is approximately $2,500–$2,800, but this should be confirmed against the live calculation when quoting.
Is a solar battery worth it in Brisbane?
For homes with moderate-to-high evening usage, low feed-in tariffs can make self-consuming stored solar more valuable than exporting it. The federal discount has also improved the economics. Suitability still depends on your tariff, usage profile, existing system and battery size.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?
Yes, in most cases. Homes with a compatible hybrid inverter may use DC coupling. Homes with a standard string inverter can often use an AC-coupled battery. Some older equipment may need replacement, which our Brisbane team assesses during quoting.
Will my battery work during a Brisbane storm outage?
Only when the system is specifically designed and configured for backup. A compliant backup installation typically includes nominated circuits and automatic transfer equipment. Discuss essential loads and backup duration during design—not after installation.
What battery brands does Solargain install in Brisbane?
Solargain offers Enphase, Tesla Powerwall, Fronius-compatible systems and iStore batteries. Product availability and suitable configurations can change, so call 07 3884 1700 for current options.
How long do solar batteries last in Brisbane?
Quality home batteries commonly carry warranties of around 10 years, while some products offer longer coverage. Actual life depends on chemistry, cycling, operating temperature and installation location. A compliant, shaded and well-ventilated position is particularly important in Queensland.
How does the rebate taper apply to larger batteries?
From 1 May 2026, the STC factor applies at 100% for the first 14kWh of usable capacity, 60% for capacity above 14kWh and up to 28kWh, and 15% for capacity above 28kWh and up to 50kWh. Systems can be up to 100kWh, but supported capacity is capped at 50kWh.
